Holiday Post Mortem
I expect you all had an uneventful New Year…the roads were VERY interesting around here. Anyway - I wanted to post some pictures and comments regarding the holidays here:Â (Forgive the wonkiness of this post - Wordpress “upgraded” and I had to figure out the whole picture thing - I blew up some of the knitting pictures for more clarity) - anyway - There were some hardscape items that came into our life and wild board games were played:
Â

                          Â
The picture on the left is of dh playing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) for those of you who aren’t in the know…this is a very intense workout which usually makes the adults in the household look kind of funny and totally uncoordinated. It hooks up to the TV via various means (ie. Playstation, Xbox, GameCube). Santa upgraded us to the PS2 this year and included several other games as well. Youngest son also got the much coveted skateboard - not bad to be in the driveway on December 25th (in Minnesota!) He has started lessons at an indoor park and has proclaimed this to be his passion! We highly recommend Apples to Apples at our house as well!
There was knitting:Â
This was for my mom from the Cat Bordhi mobius pattern here. I made this with 1 1/2 skeins of the Alchemy Synchronicity yarn. It only took a few hours to make and is really yummy soft.
We added these new friends to the household. Each one of these items had been requested during the past year: A much loved duck - I changed the color scheme and type of yarn to get a larger size. A sock monkey - I added some fake fur to the head. The monkey was made from XL socks so he is very long and lanky and last - Petrushka - there was A LOT of knitting on this baby!! It is basically worked from the top down and picking up stitches to create all of the appendages and clothing items. I finished this one on 12/23 at 10 PM!Â
There were socks as well. I made my SIL and grandson super thick pairs (doublestranded Cascade 220) in the style below.Â
These socks were presented with live stitches worked just past the gusset. These were for my son, I forgot what shoe size he wore. I finished them up before he left for school. My husband was really admiring all of the socks and was hinting VERY strongly that he needed a pair for winter camping - poor guy got this:
I need to start these soon!
My big disappointment was some felted sock/slippers I made from the Knit 1 Felt Too book:
They are incredibly too big around the ankles so I am going to sew in a casing and insert some soft elastic so they stay on the feet. I think that will work out alright - they fit the foot pretty well.Â
My mom even produced some knitted items for the kids this year - they really loved them:![]()
The boys were hamming it up for the camera - the girls of course, were more civilized.Â
Well - enough of all that - on to 2007! I have several WIP’s started and can’t wait to learn some new techniques this year!

Everything looks terrific! I’m boggling at the socks made w/ doubled Cascade. I’ll have to remember that moebius for sometime this year, too.

I am amazed at how quickly you can crank out those projects. I think 10 for every one thing I knit. Yeah, but who’s counting, right?
Happy New Year Connie. Love the duck.
